Prime Minister Modi Addresses Security Challenges at Annual Police Conference in Jaipur


In a significant move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the three-day annual conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police in Jaipur, commencing on January 5. The conference aims to tackle pressing challenges, including artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security, counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, and narcotics smuggling.

Agenda Highlights:

1. AI and Cyber Security: Deliberations on the implications and strategies related to artificial intelligence and cyber security will be at the forefront.

2. New Criminal Laws Implementation: The conference will address the implementation of recently introduced criminal laws that have replaced traditional statutes like the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Police Code, and The Evidence Act.

3. Counter-Terrorism Measures: Given the evolving landscape of terrorism, discussions will center on counter-terrorism efforts and the threat posed by figures like Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

Venue and Participants:

The 58th all-India annual conference will take place at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur. Notably, this conference follows the formation of a new BJP government in the state. Prime Minister Modi's directive to hold such events outside Delhi emphasizes the need for better coordination between state police and central agencies.

Key Attendees:

Apart from Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, DGPs, IGPs of states and UTs, and heads of the CAPFs will participate in various sessions. The agenda will also include a review of actions taken on issues highlighted in the previous year.

Hybrid Conference Format:

While approximately 100 high-ranking officials will attend the conference physically, an additional 600 officers from various ranks will virtually join the sessions from their respective stations.

This move reflects a comprehensive approach to address contemporary security challenges and foster collaboration between central agencies and state police forces. The conference serves as a crucial platform for shaping policies and strategies in response to the evolving security landscape.
